The Legion of Mary helps you grow spiritually through Mary to Jesus. The Legion of Mary has been strongly promoted by seven Popes and is operating in 160 countries. It was founded by a lay person, Frank Duff in 1921 in Ireland. The role of Legion of Mary is to study the role of Mary in the Church and to reach out to every soul (this could be a lapsed Catholic, or one who would like to become Catholic). Our work is assigned to us by the Parish Priest.
The responsibilities of each legionary are:
- to attend a weekly meeting (an hour to one and a half);
- two hours of community work (ie. assisting at Mass in Seniors Homes, conducting the Liturgy of the Word at the retirement homes, visiting the sick, etc.)
We are always looking for new members. Any practicing Catholic over the age of eighteen (18) is eligible to join - MEN OR WOMEN. We need more active members if our organization can continue here at Holy Redeemer. We ask you to pray about it. We meet at the church, in the Upper Room, every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. Come out and see what we are about. Bring your rosary.
